Prices from the shops we compare. Nobody pays for a place. How we rank
What an old fridge-freezer uses per year depends on its age. For that we use Milieu Centraal's estimate: 280 kWh at 10 years, 350 kWh at 15 years, 370 kWh at 20 years and 470 kWh at 25 years or older. Your fridge may use more or less.
The use of a new model comes from the EU energy label. Saving per year = (old use − new use) × your price per kWh. Payback = today's lowest price ÷ that saving. Milieu Centraal advises replacing a fridge of 10 years or older.
Only models whose label use we know count. The electricity price filled in is an example for each country: enter the one from your own contract. The new fridge also has to fit and suit you; we do not count that.
